Symposium

Expression of interest to organize a Symposium at the EASM Conference in Amsterdam in September 2009.

Application Procedure

A proposer of a symposium is to apply along with one or two academic colleagues who are all experts in the proposed subject area of the symposium. Expressions of interest need to be received by 15 December 2008.  The applications should contain a paragraph that describes the specific research area in Sport Management that is proposed for the symposium, along with some background information about the topic and essential questions that should be addressed during the symposium.

The CVs of the specialist team must be submitted, along with details of their expertise in this area (including research articles, consultancy projects, work experience etc.).  The specialist team would be solely responsible for organizing the symposium, once representatives from the EASM Board have agreed to the symposium proposal.

Symposium Process

·         All papers accepted for the symposium will be available online for people that have signed up to that particular symposium.

·         One of the main purposes of the symposium is to allow all members of it, to follow and participate in the symposium for the whole period, so that they can get to know the members and network more efficiently.

·         It is hoped that this process will lead to the production of research papers that are of a higher standard and closer to submission quality for a refereed journal.

Deadlines

·         The different symposiums will be announced by the EASM and the Amsterdam Congress Organizing Committee before Christmas 2008.

·         Abstracts for the symposiums will need to be received by the end of February 2009

·         Symposium team organizers will review abstracts and notify applicants of accepted abstracts for the symposium.

·         Full paper submission will be by the end of June 2009.

Please note that this part of the EASM conference program is an initiative of the EASM and its Board, and as such, all communication in first instance, should be with the President of EASM, Associate Professor Berit Skirstad at Berit.Skirstad@nih.no. Also, if you have further questions about the structure of the symposium, contact Professor Skirstad at the above email address.
